Release Notes

WPF Futures includes sample controls and features, many of which are being considered for the Toolkit.

These samples are available as building blocks for more complete controls and will not be serviced regularly.
  • Shader Effect BuildTask Source - source code for the Shader Effect BuildTask.
  • WPF SplashScreen Template Setup Sources - Source code for the Deployment project and templates.
  • Southridge Hands-on-Lab - An extensive WPF Hands-on-Lab which teaches you how to build the Southridge Real Estate sample application. Read more about the Southridge lab here.
  • WPF Themes - An updated collection of seven themes replaces the original nine WPF Themes. Some of the issues with the original themes have been addressed in this update. These Themes can also be found in the Silverlight Toolkit. Check out the WPF Themes wiki page for a preview of each theme.
  • WPF Model-View-ViewModel Toolkit - A toolkit intended to introduce the Model-View-ViewModel pattern. The release v0.1 of the toolkit includes a VS 2008 template, overview and walkthrough documents, as well as a more advanced Model-View-ViewModel sample. Learn more about the toolkit here.

If you're going to have new releases, at least update the samples! The Southridge sample uses the old RibonControl, which won't work for people who have installed newer versions of the RibbonControl. Either update the examples, or remove them, as they're completely useless otherwise.

I can't get Visual Studio 2010 to load this after installing it. I've tried every suggestion in these review so far. Anyone have any other ideas? Would a new version, updated for the new VS be an option?

does anyone gets this to work in VS2010, from the steps given by janeggert? In order to get the template running in VS2010, edit the file WpfModelViewApplicationProjectTemplate.cs.vstemplate in the template zip file: Simply remove the line <Assembly>Microsoft.VisualStudio.Presentation.Extensions, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35</Assembly>

The sample XAML is good code, even if you are VB.

Seems to work like a charm..

Rating as a fair since there is not a visual basic version of the code. A lot of companies out here dont allow us to code in C# seems WPF is focused more on the C# developer rather than the VB.net developer.

Why doesn't this project contain a VB version as well as a C# version?

Installation of Shader Effects BuildTask and Templates.zip contained msi fixed my following VS2008 compilation issue: Error 1 The "ShaderBuildTask.PixelShaderCompile" task could not be loaded from the assembly ShaderBuildTask, Version=1.0.3072.18169, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=44e467d1687af125. The Client Profile Configuration Designer is useless, certainly not "beta" quality. The default exit code I set for some package is not even saved to the project file, the license agreement I set I not used, when deleting a package then adding it again the program adds a [1] to the file name, then [2] etc, plus numerous other UI bugs.
