Red Border Not Affected by Disabled State

When my user types in bad data and a validation error is raised, a red border appears which is great.

However, if  the text box’s enabled state becomes false, I would like the red border to look disabled, not bright red. Has anyone had any success at doing this?

It would be nice if WPF had a way to more easily customize this. I do not want to clear out the contents of the text box because if it gets re-enabled, he can see the contents and correct it.
